A PSA From Your UVA Med Students

As the United States confronts the current pandemic, health care providers everywhere are imploring Americans to stay home and stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. University of Virginia medical students are no exception, and they have found a creative way to get the message across.

Yesterday, a group of medical students released a video, “Don’t Come Out,” a social-distancing-themed cover of pop star Dua Lipa’s hit, “Don’t Start Now.”

Joey Michel, a medical student who earned his undergraduate degree from UVA in 2018 – and was a member of the Virginia Gentlemen, an a cappella group – wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals. Sam Roller, a fellow alumnus and graphic designer in UVA’s McIntire Department of Music, produced the song; and many of Michel’s classmates contributed dance moves from the safety of their homes.

Enjoy, and please stay home if you can. It’s the best way to help our health care providers and all those putting their lives on the line during this pandemic.
